Interview Techniques
Today's interview styles vary immensely, however
from the candidate perspective, the basic principals remain the
same. The interviewer maybe assessing you on a number of different
levels; from your ability to handle the role to your motivations
for joining them, you're overall professionalism and the cultural
fit.
The following points may help you when
preparing for the interview:
- Consider the type of interaction likely to take
place
Are you persuading or negotiating?
Are you discussing or revealing
information?
Are you selling yourself or buying them?
- Research the Company and, if possible, the
interviewers
- Research the interview format ie. Situational,
behavioural, unstructured or panel
- Make a good impression ie. conservative dress,
arrive early
- Be personable as well as professional
- Be aware of both verbal and non-verbal
communication
- All questions will be asked for a reason, answer
them accordingly
- Make notes about the interview to help with your
feedback
